Info on the paynage

Howdy the names Aaron, and this is my attempt at taking a photo a day and posting it here for everyone to see starting january 1st 2010. I know, I know it’s not original.

UPDATE: Ok, so I'm not getting one out everyday anymore. But hey at least I'm still working at it!

Bit about me and my life of creating images... I’ve been taking photos well back into the days of film. I’ve spent a couple years shooting only black and white and developing in the dark room and loved it. Fast forwarding to the days of the pixel I’ve since abondoned film and have gone all digital (Sorry film! I will always love you, I’ve been seduced by the instant gradification).

Recently I’ve been becoming obsessed with studio and strobist lighting.

Camera and glass...

  • Canon 40D
  • EF 50mm 1.4
  • EF 100 2.8 Macro
  • EFS 17mm-85mm 4-5.6

Lighting etc...

  • Ultra White Ligtning 600
  • 2 540 EZ Speedlights
  • Pocket Wizards

Goodies I like to use...

  • Alien Bees Beauty Dish with 40° grid
  • Umbrellas
  • 5 in 1 reflector

So there I was eating chips... You finish the sentence and tell me what happened.

Portrait of Aaron Payne

My hair's getting long... It's a lot of hard work you know. Anyways here's a portrait of me using one light with a beauty dish blasting the side of my face and another from behind for the hair.

Teriyaki Chicken

Gotta love quick and cheap teriyaki chicken. I swear, the majority of teriyaki chicken is exactly the same no matter where you go.

Reflection of a tree branch in the water

Mucky bogs have really calm water so you can get some great reflections from them.

Spring really seems early, actually it didn't even seem like we had a winter at all. Hardly any snow, just rain. Lame! Well, I guess Al Gore was right, this summer will probably be 120 degree weather.

Close up of a red rose

We decided to celebrate our valentines a day early. The wife made us some dark chocolate espresso moose for desert and we washed it down with some chocolate cherry wine from the Icicle Ridge Winery. Then I washed that down with a couple beers. Good times.

Metal vase decoration

This is a closeup of a metal vase that I bought today. The detail on these types of things are great. It's sad that someone in India probably made 5 cents making it.

Modelo Especial beer bottle

Ahh Modelo... Best Mexican beer ever.

Church Bricks

Sometimes it's nice to walk around at night time and take photos. You never really know what you might find.

feet and legs

Sometimes it's nice to force myself to use natural light. Although at first I don't really like the idea, but I am often pleasantly surprised by the results.
